History: Though he spent his teenage years as a SeeD-in-training at Balamb Garden, it wasn't hard to tell that Seifer Almasy was headed down the wrong path. Things really became evident when the talented gunblade-wielder pulled the trigger during a training session with his rival Squall Leonhart, the only other person in the Garden capable of using such a weapon. Not to be outdone, Squall retaliated in a similar manner. The two would both come away relatively unharmed but scarred between the eyes.
Seifer's reputation for taking things too far continued when, as leader of a squad in a SeeD field test, he went beyond his orders and took matters into his own hands. The incident cost him the honor of being called a SeeD but did not cease his chances at the glory he so craved. After all but killing a figure that SeeD merely intended to kidnap, the sorceress Edea knew that she had found the perfect knight to assist her. The proud and arrogant Seifer craved only glory and saw this as his chance to attain it. Following him were two fellow Garden students, Fujin and Raijin, both good at heart but the type to trust Seifer in any decision he might make.
Seifer embraced his new role and was not afraid to do whatever Edea commanded. Even if it meant annihilating his former classmates.
